Even three days after withdrawal of sodium D-aspartate from cells, testosterone levels remained significantly greater than basal values.

Urtica Dioica

Nettle is a well-known aromatase inhibitor, blocking the conversion of testosterone to oestrogen. By blocking this conversion process, nettle may provide relief from symptoms associated with gynecomastia and galactorrhea in women.

Numerous studies have been done involving the use of nettle for treating this condition - studies which demonstrate its ability to lower overall levels of oestrogen.

Sstinging nettle may exert its power through binding to sex hormone-binding globulin and interaction with serotonin and histamine, as well as its possible interaction with these molecules.

Wu et al. demonstrated this effect by showing how MK-7 improved mineralization of pre-osteoblastic cells MC3T3-E1 from neonatal mouse calvarias while simultaneously inducing differentiation with upregulation of Tenascin C and BMP2. MK-7 also effectively inhibits vascular calcification by increasing conversion of vascular smooth muscle cells to osteoblastic-like cells by upregulating matrix Gla protein via g-carboxylation.

Vitamin K2 can also prevent bone degradation by upregulating osteoprotegerin, an antagonist receptor for the pro-osteoclast RANKL/RANK.

When activated, RANKL/RANK is linked with osteoclast activation that results in peripheral sensory nerve damage causing neuropathic pain around bones.

Furthermore, K2 can inhibit osteoclasts by blocking their binding to NF-kB which regulates inflammation and proliferation; additionally the MK-7 metabolite of K2 inhibiting this pathway which is associated with inflammation responses as well as cellular proliferation and cell death.
